Located in far Northern Queensland, Australia, Cairns has become one of Australia’s most popular tourist destinations. You will also find along these areas 3 interpretive nodes with information on local wildlife, history and environment, also a war memorial to honor local service man and women.

On hot days visitors folk to the Esplanade Lagoon which is a 4800 sq meter saltwater swimming lagoon. The lagoon area includes a sandy beach front, life guards, bathrooms and changing rooms, cafeteria facilities and a mixture of shady spaces and wooden decks for sunbathing, relaxing and for enjoying the tropical lifestyle.

Children's play areas are also a very popular location for Cairns visitors. Muddy's playground is a popular spot and offers a mixture of water and play park facilities, also bathrooms and a cafeteria while the Esplanade Funship is another popular children’s play area which is located at the far northern end of the Cairns Esplanade.

For the older children the skate park will provide hours of entertainment. At 2,315m2 the skate park is one of Australia’s largest skate parks and is a very popular location for locals and tourists alike who seek some more exciting activities.

The Cairns Esplanade hosts local music and cultural events most weekends, be sure to check locally for more details and current music and event schedules, you will also find at times during the week a variety of free exercise and children’s activities. School holiday periods are popular times with a lot of organized activities.

The Esplanade is also home to one of the most popular Northern Queensland markets. The Esplanade markets are held every Saturday from 8am to 5pm. The markets are a great place to pick up local arts, crafts and gifts.
