Josephine Falls.
Josephine Falls is located approx. 75 kms
south of Cairns and is a popular destination home to a unique
waterfall, fast flowing water, large granite boulders and tropical
rainforest. Josephine Falls are situated at the base of the mountain,
Mount Bartle Frere (1622 mts) which is Queensland's highest mountain.
The Josephine Falls area is home to a wide
variety of flora and fauna there is a 600 mt walking track that
takes you to viewing platforms which offer excellent views of
Josephine Falls and the surrounding rainforest.
Josephine Falls is also a very popular swimming
hole on hot summer days, some caution should be taken as surrounding
rocks can be slippery and it is advised not to swim after heavy
rains as the area can be effected by flash flooding.
